Asia Minor Partners

A transcultural network for
reformation Christianity
growth among unreached peoples

Overview

transcultural |transˈkəlCHərəl, tranz-|
adjective relating to or involving more than one culture; engaging individuals or groups from multiple cultures; transcending cultural boundaries (in pursuit of a common goal)

Vision

Our vision is to see the gospel of Jesus Christ flourish in Central and Western Asia Minor through a locally-led movement of believers, pastors and teachers who demonstrate the love of Christ based on a deep understanding of Middle Eastern culture. As we learn from brothers and sisters in a different culture, and work hand-in-hand to this end, we anticipate that our own hearts and minds and churches will be enlightened and brought to greater maturity.

Approach

Submitting to one another in Christ, ministry partners commit to active collaboration, mutual accountability, and the establishment of enduring relationships that form the essential basis for an organization that must expect to face overwhelming challenges over an extended period of time.Partners seek to combine and optimize their organizational, financial and spiritual resources, anticipating that over time each will give and receive, each will teach and learn, and each will
minister and serve.

Organization

The Asia Minor Partnership operates as a self--governed, non-‐profit 501c3 organization (under the umbrella of the Presbyterian Church in America).PARTNERS (either INDIVIDUALs or representing a CHURCH or ORGANIZATION) participate on a STEERING COMMITTEE that approves an annual budget, approves major decisions affecting the organization, and appoints a LEADERSHIP TEAM to oversee on going ministry operations.EXPATRIATE WORKERS serve alongside NATIONAL LEADERS to facilitate day-‐to-‐day ministry and facilitate communication within the partnership.

Ministry Objectives

Asia Minor Partnerships are designed to complement and combine to form a holistic gospel ministry throughout the region over time.

- CHURCH PLANTING Nurture, plant and grow sustainable worshipping communities under local leader.
- PASTORAL MINISTRY Promote spiritual formation and equipping all believers for growth in Christ.
- DISCIPLESHIP Sustain (through visitation and teaching) a network of small groups, both locally and throughout the region.
- SMALL GROUP TEACHING Develop ministry leaders through teaching, mentoring, discipling and bi-‐vocational internships.
- LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT Author and translate study guides, commentaries, devotional material, and theological works.

Values

These are our shared values merged from and shaped by the work of Asia Minor Partners since its inception.

- HOLISTIC GOSPEL TRANSFORMATION: Seeking to apply the gospel thoroughly to the whole life of the believer, his or her worshiping community, their family, and the Middle Eastern culture
- COMMUNITY--TO--COMMUNITY DIALOGUE: Our focus will be on enduring relationships and communities, rather than programmatic solutions or task-‐based ministry; this collaborative dialogue should also characterize our decision making.
- LOCAL LEADERS, EXPAT FACILITATORS: As we prioritize the strategic imperative of identifying and developing national leadership, we are also committed to the role of field-‐based (expat) facilitators, who serve alongside local leaders while immersed in the culture.
- LONG--TERM VIEW: Our vision to see the Good News penetrate the region requires that we intentionally position ourselves in long-‐term relationships, laying deep foundations for the long-‐ term growth of the Church.
- INTERDEPENDENCE: A recognition (insistence) that we desperately need to learn and receive from our Middle Eastern brothers and sisters, just as much as we desire to serve them. Not dependent and not independent, but interdependent.

Becoming a partner

Who are partners

The ministry of the Asia Minor Partnership (AMP) by its very definition relies on the active participation of partners – but what does it mean to be a partner?Partners are those who make a long-term commitment to join with us in this work, actively embracing the values and priorities of the partnership as they seek to support and become directly involved in its ministry, as the Lord leads and provides.Partners may be individuals, or may represent a church (or like-minded organization). Our goal is for partner churches to be actively engaged through their leadership, committees, membership, and group ministry (rather than dependent on a motivated individual, even a pastor), as this helps to ensure the continuity that is the foundation for our long-term goals.

Partner Responsibilities

Partners maintain virtual contact throughout the year and meet twice yearly to receive updates, pray, mentor one another, and evaluate ministry priorities. They are committed to sharing resources to advance church planting and ministry initiatives in collaboration with national pastors.- Helping to ensure that partner churches are well-informed about the work and happenings.
